Every Day in May – And So It Begins……

Everyday_miniIt’s that time of year again, time for the annual Every Day in May drawing marathon to begin.  A lot of people from the Every Day Matters group draw and post every day in May.  This year some are revisiting the first Every Day matters challenges and using that as their theme.  That is what I drew today, EDM Challenge #1, draw a shoe.  I don’t know if I’ll stick to this theme, yet.  I had toyed with the idea of using EDinM to force me to work on some of my fears/weak areas-  drawing real people and getting the perspective right for buildings.  I think for now my official goal for the month is to draw from life, whether it is an old EDM challenge or not.  I tend to rely a lot on photos for drawing, and I’d like to get out of that rut.

  1. Great shoes! While reading your post I made up my mind and decided to join EDinMay too. You are right: these challenges are great for working on weak areas and keep you motivated to try new things. I draw a lot from life, especially buildings, so this month I would probably concentrate on smaller subjects around the house, that way I have no excuse not to draw…

  2. Oh does that make my feet hurt just looking at it! But it sure is pretty! There was once a time when I’d have suffered that willingly for such a gorgeous pair o’ shoes!

  3. What a cool kick! lol I sort of wanted to do the EDM in May thing, but here I am already behind. (Notice the “sort of” – I sometimes have difficulty with commitment, can you tell?) nancy

  4. Minerva- I’m so glad you decided to join in on EDinM, I’m sure you’ll have fun!
Nancy- Just do what you can and have fun with it. Last year I got behind and didn’t even finish, but what I did I enjoyed.

Thanks to everyone about the shoe sketch comments :)!!!
Yea, they are uber-high but they really are pretty comfy and easy to walk in. In fact, I wore these to church today. It does help that I am only wearing them for a little while, not on something like a power shopping marathon. Eeeek, now that would be torture!!.

  5. LOL…it seems everyone has the same thoughts as I do! My eyes love those shoes; my feet run in terror! Great, great drawing! Love the folds over the toe!
