Did you ever have a day where everything went wrong?  First DS says the rainbow was too bright, so I toned it down. Next DH peeks in and says it's too dull, he liked it better before.  Then, even though I had let the lettering sit for at least half an hour, it smeared all over the place when I erased the guidelines. Ughhh!! That purple all around the letters is Noodler's nightshade ink.  After it left giant smears all I could think to do was wash some water over it to even out and lighten up the purple black smears.  What a mess!!  I'm too tired to start over so here it is, warts and all...........

Ash Wednesday

I'm not Catholic, but in college I got into the habit of observing Lent with my roommates and friends. Usually this takes the form of my giving up something that I enjoy, like chocolate.  Some years are different and I choose to do something instead.  One year, while pregnant, I got up at 5:00 before my tiny kiddos were awake and read through the Bible noting verses about mothers and children and labour.  This year I'm trying out a visual approach with images that are reminders of my faith.  We'll see how it works. 

ETA: I forgot to explain that the letters on this cross spell light on the vertical and life on the horizontal.
