The kiddos went back to weedeat at Grams’ house and I was able to draw her lovely pitcher and bowl set…
Read MoreThe Sketchbook Challenge for this month was to push yourself out of your comfort zone and this page is waaay out of mine! Everything about it was out of my comfort zone, from the style- I normally do “pretty pictures” not journal spilling, to the subject matter- my mother’s death from lung cancer, to the images- a sketch I made in the hospice of her hairless from chemo with her oxygen tubes and sunken into the giant neck brace she wore at the end, even to the materials and methods- stamps, acrylics, paint pens, irredescent paint, collage. None of this was in my comfort zone. I thought this type of page was supposed to be cathartic, but I find the finished work diquieting. I chose one of R3’s necklaces (I just realized that I mislabeled the pic as R4’s not R3’s– I think this is just a tad too girly for R4, LOL!!). R2 and R3 usually celebrate their birthday together since they are only two days apart. Today was their combo birthday party and Easter lunch for the extended family to celebrate together.
