Normally DH takes R4 to his baseball practice, but hubby had stuff to do for work so I took him to it. I brought along my sketchbook so I could get in some practice of my own– drawing people. We were the first people there so it was easy to set up my folding chair and get all nice and comfy with my feet propped up on the side of the bleachers. While the boys were warming up and playing catch I managed to get a sketch that remotely resembles a ball player.
After that, they mainly had pitching and batting practice. I tried to get a handle on sketching the batters, but didn’t have any luck. Working on the foreshortening in their stances and the changing batters was hard enough, but then this other parent, who had been sitting at the far end of the bleachers, plunked down right in front of me!!! Grrrr!! So I sketched him, take that Mr!! LOL!!!
Lovely sketches! Great proportion and nice lines =)
I think you handled the body proportions beautifully! I so need to attempt this myself but it always looks so wonky that I find myself dreading and hating to do it. I seem only to be able to work from photos when it comes to people, and even then I find using grids helps me to best get the proper proportions.
It’s so hard to draw folks who are going about their business, but you did a great job with these 2 – especially the “blocker”. lol nancy
There should be a law against sitting down in front of someone sketching…. LOL. But, you made the best of it, apparently, I like the sketch of the man, you really captured his pose well!
Well, that was a good practice and an excellent result ! At least the man came out useful as he didn’t move !!
Good for you! The sketches are great and now you know you can do it – and maybe even do more for ED in May!!
I think it worked out to your advantage. You got to draw the boys and a man. Kids moving around and a guy who was more still. It gave you more practice.
Great practice ! At least the “blocker” stayed still, unlike those players who move so much .
Great job on your people sketches!! I really enjoyed looking.
These are great sketches! I need to work on buildings and people too. Congrats on doing such a good job with both of those difficult subjects!
Good job on capturing the poses and proportions of the people. I like to sketch at games too since I don’t have a clue what is going on!
Good practice, great sketches, and wonderful use of time!!
